Christian Marriage Counseling - The Purposes

Christian marriage counseling is a tool to help individuals in troubled relationships learn to understand one another and God better. Christian marriage counseling commonly involves three chief areas:

  1. Issues including difficulty communicating and a loss of closeness
  2. Personal problems that develop in marriage
  3. Lack of God's principles in your marriage

The necessity for marital counseling cannot be emphasized enough, even for Christians, because we live in a world that often encourages the devastation of marriages. As Christians, the presence of the enemy is recognized and his plot to destroy the family. From creation, marriage has been paramount in God’s plan and Satan is violently against this valuable bond. Marital counseling seeks to address problems in a marriage. If negative issues are not resolved in a timely fashion, they can worsen and cause devastation in a marriage. These problems include poor communication, a lack of closeness or intimacy, nagging, or anger. Marital counseling helps to shift priorities. It's easy for us to get distracted and lose sight of what or who is important.

Evaluate your marriage by asking these two simple questions:

  • How is my marriage?
  • Does my relationship need realignment?
