Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a type of program that benefits the employee and is offered in collaboration with the employers. This program is intended to help employees deal with personal problems that might adversely impact their work performance, health, and well-being. Family Heartbeat Ministries offers this service and it commonly includes assessment and counseling for the employees and their sometimes their household members.

Employees and their household members may use EAPs to help manage issues that could negatively impact their work and personal lives. Family Heartbeat Ministries’ counselors typically provide assessment and support. In these current economic times these programs are becoming increasingly more common in today's worksites as anxiety builds in the home and in turn in the workplace. The issues for which EAPs provide support vary, but may include:

  • Substance abuse
  • Safe working environment
  • Emotional distress
  • Major life events, including births, accidents and deaths
  • Health care concerns
  • Financial or legal concerns
  • Family/personal relationship issues
  • Work relationship issues
  • Concerns about aging parents

EAP services are usually free to the employee or household member, having been pre-paid by the employer. In many cases, an employer contracts with Family Heartbeat Ministries to manage its EAP. Employers usually do not know who is using their employee assistance programs, unless there are extenuating circumstances.

When EAPs are conducted by Family Heartbeat Ministries with our highly qualified and experienced counselors both the employer and the employee benefit.
